Mudgeeraba Water Treatment Plant

Mudgeeraba Water Treatment Plant - Queensland

NCS was engaged to rehabilitate Clarifier 2 at Mudgeeraba Water Treatment Plant, on the Gold Coast. The Mudgeeraba WTP, is one of the 5 largest WTP’s operated by SEQ Water.

Stage 1 included the relining of over 2000 square metres of concrete surfaces, that had deteriorated over time due to the nature of the asset. After consultation with the client, the specification for epoxy products for rehabilitation was changed to a more sustainable approach using crystalline technology and specialised polymer-modified mortars, able to withstand the varying water quality within the environment. All joints were rehabilitated with suitable sealants, thus ensuring a full rehabilitation of the Asset, and greatly reducing future maintenance costs for the asset owner. Our successful completion of stage 1, ensured we progressed to stage 2 some months later.

Stage 2 included the rehabilitation of the RAW water inlet channel. The timing was critical, and the limited shutdown required a well-executed management plan. All concrete spalls were repaired using Polymer Modified repair mortars followed by the complete re-lining of all concrete surfaces, where the harsh environment had deteriorated the concrete surfaces. The entire process was completed in a 5 day shutdown period. Design and consideration to a prompt return to service life were governing factors in NCS being considered for this critical update. NCS provided our client with a successful project, delivered on time.
