NCS was contracted by the Asset Owner, Goulburn Murray Water to carry out remedial repairs on Old Whroo Road Bridge. The bridge piers had been affected by the turbidity of the water within the channel, removing a majority of the fines from the surface of the concrete piers. It was evident in some areas that the water had been able to reach the structural steel elements resulting in spalling in the piers.
With an emphasis on environmental sensitivity, NCS repaired heavily corroded steel reinforcement, along with extensive concrete spall repair. Concrete surfaces susceptible to erosion, were lined with Polymer Modified Renders, with a strong emphasis on increasing concrete cover of the steel, thus reducing the risk of further deterioration with time.
